Oku Clan endorses Dr Ani Wellington as their candidate for the office of the governor of Akwa Ibom come 2023.
The Oku clan council of chiefs headed by His Royal Highness, Chief Enefiok E. Okpon, has endorsed Dr wellington for the governorship race in Akwa Ibom state come 2023. The pronouncement was made at an event which took place yesterday Saturday, 7th of may, 2022 in the palace of the Royal Father in Oku.
The occasion was witnessed by the 15 village heads, and their family heads including Afaha Oku where Dr Wellington comes from.
Welcoming the guests in his palace, HRH Chief A. E. Okpon noted that it is his pleasure to have a trustworthy Oku Son with good character and pedigree, in the person of Dr Ani Wellington, as their preferred governorship candidate come 2023.
He thanked God for giving him the capacity and courage to want to serve the state in that regard, and emphasised that, Uyo senatorial district, being their turn, deserved a competent and experienced leader in the person of Dr Wellington to steer the affairs of the state come 2023.
His Royal Highness also welcomed the entourage of Dr Ani Wellington campaign organization led by the Director General of the Ani Wellington campaign organization, Chief Dr. Donatus Udaette, who thanked the Royal Fathers for giving them such a warm welcome in the palace.
The high point of the event was the presentation of Dr Ani Wellington by the DG, Dr Udaette, to the Clan head and subsequent endorsement of Dr Wellington’s Candidature for Governorship by the council of chiefs.
Dr Udaette further reminded them that, an Uyo son or daughter has never held any position in government be it Governor, Deputy, Secretary to Government, Speaker or Deputy Speaker, but they are the actual Landlords of Uyo. He went ahead to send a strong message to the Governor of the State, His Excellency, Governor Udom Emmanuel to use this opportunity to write his name in gold by supporting an Uyo’s son in the name of Dr Wellington, and making sure he becomes the next governor during his time as governor, and that this will make history and continue to bring about peace and justice to the people of Akwa ibom ibom state.
The Oku Clan Council lead by the Clan Head rendered prayers and blessings for a successful election of Dr Wellington’, that will bring about the development of Oku and indeed Uyo and Akwa Ibom at large, taking into cognisance the courage, credibility, and capacity of Dr Wellington.
The endorsement ceremony was well attended by the Royal Fathers, Men, Women and youths of the community.
