Abia Speaker Charges Ibeku Youths on Unity, Promises Cash Rewards for Footballers as Amuzukwu Ends Tournament

The Speaker of Abia State House of Assembly, Rt Hon Engr Chinedum Enyinnaya Orji earlier today graced the final match of the Annual Amuzukwu Football Tournament between Umuwaya and Umubaa communities.

The Speaker did the ceremonial kick off for the commencement of the football match amidst cheers.

Umuwaya Village eventually won the football match after a fierce encounter with Chibuzor Chikatara donning jersey number 17 scoring the goal that decided the encounter.

After the final whistle, the Speaker in company of Mr Ifeanyi Frank who sponsored the tournament presented the tournament trophy to the victorious team.

The Speaker promised cash rewards to the winners, 1st runners up, the best player, best goalkeeper and the officiating delegation. The Speaker’s announcement was greeted with a loud ovation from the spectators.

The Speaker had earlier visited the palace of Chief Uche Akwukwegbu (Bawas), the Traditional Prime Minister of Ibeku Ancient Kingdom who hosted the leadership and members of Ibeku Youth Association.

In his speech, Rt Hon Chinedum Enyinnaya Orji congratulated the newly elected Executive members of the association and charged them to use their new positions to bring unity and progress to Ibeku clan.

Member representing Umuahia North State Constituency, Hon Kelechi Onuzuruike accompanied the Speaker to the events.
