There was panic among the residents of the popular Timothy Lane at the Rumuola axis of Port Harcourt, the Rivers state capital, yesterday, October 1st after a corpse of a middle-aged man was discovered inside a gutter.
It was gathered that the yet to be identified man was killed and tied up inside a sack bag. He was later brought out of the gutter and laid on the road side a round the new road leading to Rumuola in Port Harcourt, Obio/Akpor LGA.
A resident who spoke to ISN online news confirmed that the corpse was discovered in the gutter where it was dumped on Timothy lane around Rumuola, Port Harcourt.
The ugly incident had left many residents in a state shock.
On inquiries, while some persons could not adduce any reason for the murder, others however said it may be related to ritual or political motives.
At the last check, efforts were being made to evacuate the corpse.
ISN contacted the chairman of Rumuola Community Development Community, Engr Maxwell Chukwu via telephone and he confirmed the incident but failed to confirm the identity of the slain man.
The CDC chairman said when he got to the scene of the incident as he was driving to the venue of a meeting, he stopped by and found out that the man was dead.
According to him, he immediately called the DPO in that area who in turn told him that the police was aware of the incident and that the DCO had been dispatched to the scene.
We could not establish any contact with the police at the time of filling this report, as the mobile phone of the PPRO rang unpicked.
